Indigenous Languages Revitalization Project
Preserving traditional knowledge for future generations
The Indigenous Language Revitalization project is a space where language practitioners and those folks who are interested in learning more about Indigenous languages work can go to discover, among other things, the national Indigenous language database and functional interactive map that tracks Indigenous languages across the country. The platform also includes a compilation of federal, state, and tribal legislation, resolutions, and policies related to Indigenous languages; language research; and model templates related to guiding principles on the preservation, maintenance, and revitalization of Indigenous languages.
In an effort to assist in preserving Indigenous languages for future generations, One Generation is creating a first-of-its-kind national Indigenous language database and interactive map. We are excited for the fruition and opportunity for this project. In our quest to create the platform, One Generation is working in partnership with Indigenous language experts, including Dr. Tiffany Lee from the University of New Mexico, Dr. Sheilah Nicholas from the University of Arizona, and Dr. Teresa McCarty and Dr. Michael Seltzer from the University of California, Los Angeles.
